Presently it is headquartered at Greenland, New Hampshire, United States. It was founded in Chicago, Illinois, United States. Beside Greenland, the headquarters are also present in New York city.
Originally, the company was called Cole, Rood and Haan and it was confined to footwear label for men. But today it has expanded its horizon- from strictly being a footwear brand to offering dresses, casual footwear, handbags, hosiery, belts, scarves, outerwear, sunglasses, hats, gloves et cetera. The predecessor of this brand is Intercueros.
On May 31, 2012, Nike Inc. removed its entire stake from this luxury brand to focus on the Nike brand and other brands around. And from there on, Apax Partners Worldwide bought it for $570 million; the deal was signed on November 16, 2012, taken from Nike, Inc. Mr. Jack A.Boys is the current Chief Executive Officer of Cole Haan.
In the summer of 2011, it was decided unanimously that the headquarters of the label in Maine will be located from Yarmouth to Scarbough. But originally and finally the headquarters changed to Greenland, New Hampshire.
