In 1851, Carl Franz Bally and his brother Fritz Bally founded Bally & Co in the basement of the house owned by their family in Schonenwerd in the Canton of Solothurn, Switzerland. The idea was originated when he decided to buy a pair of lace-up booties for his dear wife in Paris.
